GDL & GEMS

Building Plans

Why GEMS Data Loading?

Capturing assets for Defence Construction Projects are carried out by ETE Solutions (ETES) through a series of site visits and thorough inspections of Defence Drawings and available Metadata. This ensures that a high level of accuracy is captured before the relevant data (building, levels, spaces) is entered and updated via GEMS Data Loading (GDL) at Defence Estate Level. Each Project Scope of Works differs and may also include individual items of equipment (lighting, electrical, fire components, etc.). Manufacturer, Warranty and Environmental Regulations (Asbestos, etc) are also recorded during the GDL process to allow relevant Maintenance and Safety Plans to be created.

The complete management and delivery of Handover Takeover (HOTO) documentation for Defence Construction Projects, including maintenance schedules for assets, GEMS Data Loading (GDL), As-Constructed Drawings, and Metadata input, are specialised areas in which ETE Solutions are proficient.

From decommissioning assets to new builds and upgrades, the team at ETE Solutions are experts in providing Defence GEMS Data Loading within the HOTO process, including full retrospective GDL updates for any building or space in which work has been carried out as part of a Defence project.

What are GDL & GEMS?

GEMS Data Loading (GDL) creation is part of the Defence Handover Takeover (HOTO) Documentation Process required for all Defence Construction Projects.

GDL creation is a key tool utilised in the Defence Garrison and Estate Management System (GEMS) to enable precise and detailed records of all assets used by Defence to be captured, disposed of, and archived in a compliant manner.
